SINGAPORE – 14 April 2025 – Dr. Lionel Low, our Head of Research at Tikva Allocell, delivered a compelling keynote at the 3rd Cell and Gene Therapy R&D Congress Asia by Global Engage. His presentation, “Current cell and gene therapy landscape – learning lessons from hemato-oncology,” provided a rich historical overview of cell therapy, underscoring pivotal challenges and the resulting critical insights.

Dr. Low highlighted the importance of stringent target selection to avoid off-tumor activity, discussed the role and risks of lymphodepletion in CAR-T therapy and emphasized the need to reduce the cost of CAR-T therapy to increase accessibility. Finally, he touched on the revolutionary possibilities of an allogeneic approach, as demonstrated by Tikva’s novel allogeneic B7-H3 targeting SB9 armored EBVST CAR-T cell program – TAVST01.

The conference facilitated valuable engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders in the cell and gene therapy space, from regulatory bodies to service providers. We anticipate further exciting advancements in the field to be shared at upcoming conferences.

CAR-T cell therapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, but its efficacy against solid tumors remains limited due to challenges like poor CAR-T cell in-vivo survival. Tikva’s engineered SB9 EBVST platform will not only address a major resistance mechanism axis but also opens doors to more effective CAR T cell therapies for solid tumors.
